Being fucked up and pounding on a stranger's door at 3 AM is not a very good idea. - The shooting took place in Dearborn Heights a suburb of Detroit.
- The shooter claimed he couldn't find is only phone -- a cell before the incident.
- The woman was stoned pounding on his door she had had a one car accident down the road.
There is no ''stand your ground'' law in Michigan -- you have no defense for shooting until they are in the door threatening you with bodily harm in some way. Even if she had broken through the door, she had no weapon, he could of slammed her in the head with the butt of the shotgun he was holding. There was exception to the use of deadly force under the circumstances.
The shooting may have been involuntary manslaughter, there are no apparent circumstances of intentional second degree murder -- near Detroit, fucked up and pounding on a stranger's door at 3 AM is not a very good idea.
Wayne County Circuit Court would be the first court a felony case would be tried in -- the courthouse is located in downtown Detroit, the county seat. I wouldn't be surprised if the conviction is remanded or reversed in the State Court of Appeals.
