Man, you just don't understand the situation in the Ukraine. There is no economics, the country is totally devastated due to their constant revolutions. There is an AIDS epidemic etc. The guys simple want to eat (according to the "well-trained and well-equipped" Ukrainian soldier's posts in social networks, they are used to eat a one day ration within a week).
Even the "elite" soldiers are starving there (the official video of the new Ukranian president inauguration):
