Their (missile defense system (anti missile missiles)) deployment is post date 5+ years of these tests in violation of treaties. The Russian tested new cruise missiles with a 500 to 5000 (mi/km) range. The missiles tested were for the European theatre of operations I am supposing.

So, it seems rather convenient that this revelation is present post facto now when economic sanctions are the call of the day.
