To compare, here's a list of other cars turning in 3.5 second 0-60's.
2012 - Audi R8 5.2 V10 Spyder - 525hp
2007 - Ferrari 430 Scuderia - 483hp
2007 - Nissan Skyline R35 GTR - 473hp
There's quite a few more examples.
As for addressing the issue of weight, again the Hellcat and GTR have almost identical power to weight ratios, even if you factor in a little cheating on the part of Nissan. Even if that weren't the case though, reducing the weight in a car is a function of technology and NOT a function of horsepower. We're also not talking about a difference of a of a few tenths of a second, it's a full half second different. If you put another 100 HP in to that Hellcat, it's still not like to run 3.0 seconds and no chance at all without a VERY good driver.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not HATING on the SRT at all. Especially given its price, if that's the kind of car you're in to have it. Just for me, if you're going to come out of the gates cheering about having the most HP, I'd expect a better 0.60 time. Closer to 3 seconds or better.
