Big change for me, everything was different. I lived and worked for a while, and didn't really enter the "system" here until a year or two after I came.
Poland is a great place to come and visit, but once you actually enter into the system buying a car, buying real estate, starting a company, etc etc you see it's actually a nightmare. The government is still more or less communist, seems like almost everyone is trying to fuck you in some way, evertyhing is setup to make private business as hard as humanly fucking possible. Payroll taxes and fees are almost a second salary of the employee. You are taxed on taxes (you buy a house, you pay 2% tax based on money you BORROWED from a bank to begin with and you of course cannot deduct this from income), the tax authority is housed by old communist ladies that will try to twist your words around in any way to fuck you ("this can't possible be a home office, there's a barbeque on the patio!"), I have to pay some $300/mo towards a mandatory retirement fund (adjusted for inflation going forward every year) until I retire at age 67 (unless they further raise the retirement age), at which point i'll get around $120 per month for the additional MAYBE 10 years i'll live), etc. It's all corrupt as fuck, and i'm really hoping this Korwin-Mikke (extremely right-wing politian that's gaining alot of ground lately) guy wins the next election - although it's a long shot...
Moving here did over the course of the last years let me build my company from 1 person at home to 9 people in an office, but I moved here everything here has just gotten worse and more expensive but i'm too settled in to move anywhere else for the time being + my fiance is a doctor and she can't work in other countries without passing some language exams.
