I think some of it also reflects the growing lack of attention we have overall. I was reading a review of a TV show yesterday where the reviewer said something like, "The show starts off slow, it is at least 20 minutes before any real action happens." I watched the show and while it was about 20 minutes until any real action happened, those first 20 minutes were filled with intrigue and setup.
