He is a very, very rare case. Maybe the only one of his kind except for George Washington and FDR.
Not sure if it means he did good things or not. But he definitely had charm.
I remember when he was President and I was living with my first wife in Ft. Lauderdale.
I was an avid fan of Rolling Stone magazine and their political section. I didn't realize it was so biased...I just thought they were "reporting".
So I HATED Reagan at that time.
But I swear to God, every time he would address the nation on television...all that would kinda melt away and he'd charm everybody. He just had that gift.

You see that is the difference between a great leader and a bad one.
When Reagan gave a speech, he didn't blame Carter for everything, he didn't blame the Democrats for everything, he brought people together, talked about a great nation, great people, people that can do anything.
Obama blames the GOP for not getting anything done, what he really means is he can't get what he wants done and the people that are represented by the GOP in the house and senate don't want him to do and he just won't have that.
I was in the middle of the Indian ocean when Reagan took office, everyone cheered that he had won, we were going home because after 444 days of a president that couldn't handle foreign policy, we got Reagan and all those captives went home. When I got out of the military, we were coming out of a recession that many argue was worse in many ways to that Obama had to deal with, but then we had a huge construction boom in LA and I went to work in high rises building elevators.
So yeah, you are right, he was a one of a kind, democrats will always blast him, because they couldn't argue against him. He was more of a libertarian than a republican according to today;s standards.
He spoke out against the Briggs initiative, before he was president.
Stopped a run away inflation
Unemployment was at 4.4 when he left office
Cold war was coming to a close.
And he never bowed to a foreign power
He made mistakes, who doesn't? But he's exactly what we need right now!
If you ever get a chance, take a tour of the Reagan library, it's in Simi Valley just north west of LA. If you do, give me a shout, I'll meet you there!
