Ok, so what is the difference between that and any other "industry", other than that the big ones work from offices and plants rather than home (they still might get their desks from IKEA though).
GM and Ford are just a couple of companies building cars, entirely for themselves (themselves being the stockholders), etc etc. There is normally not much cooperation within an "industry" other than that which is forced upon them by regulation or market conditions.
