The boy is represented by a guardian, not a parent. Having all this go down, the specific way it has, is the perfect recipe for someone with little/no family to hate all aspects of society and want to destroy it, if he chooses that path. Let's hope he doesn't. The system has truly let him down, and abused him in the process.
