I dont think its a uniform as much as it is wearing the appropriate clothing for the activity. Cyclists wear spandex to keep cool and motorcyclists were leathers to protect their skin from coming off if they fall.

Maybe ill start wearing a suit when I go to the gym so I dont look too uniformy
