The problem is that gun control is a fantasy, like the war on drugs.
Also there is great naivety about American gang wars where the "zip gun" was used for a lot of murders.
Anybody with average intelligence can make a home made gun.

Plenty of people live in unincorporated areas that have no police force.
These people will cease to exist overnight without their own guns.
You are just kidding them that they can give up their guns without being slaughtered out in the middle of nowhere where they live.
Prisoners who escape run directly into these areas to hide......in your home.
