If there is ever crazy violence at a gun show, it will start with a crazy person.

A person armed to the teeth who walks into a so-called "Gun Free Zone" like a school with the intention to shoot people is clearly of a different mindset. He is out to kill. He has the "Me vs them" mentality. He decided hours or days ago when he is going to do, and is about to do it.

That same person could easily walk into a gun show and do the exact same thing. The only difference is that he might die sooner.

Does that mean that the answer to gun violence is more guns? Not to me, and this is why I think Wayne Lapierre is a dangerous stupid fucking idiot. He dumbs-down and over simplifies the problem and tells people that more guns are the solution, when clearly it is not.

The NRA used to be a good organization that promoted responsible gun ownership and gun safety. Today they just scare gun lovers into buying more guns using triggers (haha) such as "Freedom" and "Gangs" and "Drugs" and "Home Invasion". They also use an insane amount of patriotism to push the agenda. They call people who join the NRA Patriots & Heroes. No doubt this selling technique works extremely well, but the cost seems to be increased gun violence, more illegal weapons, and "Militia" types armed with assault rifles pointing at true lawmen.

When there is a major shooting, people are scared and want revenge of course. Wayne Lapierre and the NRA, capitalize on these feelings, and offer that the answer to this rate and terror people feel is to buy more guns.
A gun is a tool, just like the hammer. How it's used is up to you.
Yes, more guns are the answer. Thugs would think twice before invading your home or robbing you on the street if they know you are armed. You don't see thugs knocking over a police station do you.

Anyone can kill, with any tool of their choosing. Hammers, propane tanks, screwdrivers, IEDs, fire... there is no end to the ways in which to take a human life. Some guy in a car can easily take out a whole crowd of people if he sets his mind to it. But you don't have a problem with cars being around people, everywhere, every day. You probably don't give it a second thought.

Criminals do not obey laws. Murder and rape are already illegal. That does not stop that shit from happening. The death penalty exists. That does not stop murder from happening. All the so called "gun laws" are only followed by those that respect them. Criminals don't respect them any more than they respect a sign saying "Gun Free Zone".

Banning things doesn't work. Cocaine and Heroin are banned. Plenty of people use them daily. Banning that stuff has no impact on those that want it. Black markets fill the void. Alcohol was banned by Constitutional amendment and that still did not work. People find a way to get what they want. If guns are banned, only criminals will have guns. That's a recipe for wanton crime.

The 2nd Amendment is not about hunting, or self defense, or skeet shooting, or home protection. It's about our RIGHT to bear arms in the event that we need to retake control of a tyrannical government. We're pretty close to that now. Banning guns leads to genocide by the millions. History has proven this over and over.

You don't have to like guns. If you don't feel comfortable having one, then don't. It's not required. But I'll be damned if you're going to take mine without a fight because YOU are uncomfortable.

I don't support the NRA. They make too many concessions, and I don't feel they represent that which they pretend to be. The 2nd Amendment is crystal clear:

A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

This is not a privilege handed to us by the grace of the government.
This is a declaration of our RIGHT, that the government must OBEY.
Any "gun law" that infringes on that is unconstitutional.
