As far as sci-fi is concerned I'd say Singularity is a pretty interesting concept.
The film was an analogy for how artificial intelligence will outgrow us once it reaches singularity and it used the breakup of a relationship to explain it so brilliantly.
The whole film was about a breakup of a relationship and the reason why relationships between two people fail. One partner outgrows the other and they no longer want the same things.
There was nothing pseudo intellectual about it, it was a simple concept that was beautifully written and executed. Hence the rating of 8.1/10 on IMDB and it's rightful place in the top 250 films list.
