Imagine that the most famous painter in France was really crap.
And he had all the awards. And other crap painters said he was great.
Would the fact that the painting were crap be damaging to;
1) Art
2) Other painters
3) people who loved paintings
In fact all three.
This is the situation in the "porn" industry, because of its semi legal status, because of criminal sales practices, because of lack of artistic status. The victory of mountains of poor content over originality and creativity.
