I was thinking about her Facebook page and the remarks when I typed that. Apart from that, it's a very standard contradiction on this forum. A guy punts a puppy over a cliff and everyone wants him dead. But the fact that he did so strongly suggests that he need psychological help and the base assumption from the start should be that he is ill. Since puppy trumps sick person, ... person loses and no ones first thought is "we need to help this guy, he's in trouble". If you take that emotional trigger from the equation and it's about the same sick person killing something more socially/emotionally acceptable such as bats in a similar manner, then sick person is suddenly totally fine in everyone's eyes and even applauded by those same objectors.
I'm just amused by the fact that "caring" is a very inconsistent and contradictory business for our species.
