Interesting solution, particularly if this is related to a known mental health condition, and a person not taking their meds.

Walmart employees told police a suspect, whom police identified as Corey Jermaine Mosley, 25, walked into the store and asked an associate where the baseball bats were. Mosley allegedly chose a bat, walked around the store until he found Rogers, who was looking at DVDs, and struck her in the back of the head with the bat, the report states.

Perhaps the WalMart associate or WalMart security could have interceded earlier.

The report states Mosley dropped the bat and walked out of the store. Rogers was taken to Mercy Fort Smith, where she was treated and released, according to the report.

Well, that certainly lowers the bar for the death penalty/torture.
For the record, I don't know many of the facts (as I suspect most of you also do not), so I am reserving judgement. Many of the allegations you find online about this case are not based on facts at all (just internet speculation by people with a hate agenda trying to stir up hate and discontent).
If the investigation determines that it was a purely criminal act, as some have alleged, then certainly some jail time is in order, along with probation/monitoring, and enhancements should be added on for any priors, gang involvement, and a hate crime should be charged as well, if race was indeed a motivating factor. I think that is the type of justice most rational people expect.
And if this turns out to be yet another bizarre crime committed by a mentally disturbed individual, then we need to better examine and make some improvements to our mental health care system.
