I agree, when the ball finally gets into the scoring area it's exciting. It just doesn't happen enough, the field is so big and long.
In American football the teams get down to the red(scoring) zone 3-4 times a game, and they run a bunch of plays when they get down there unless they score on their first attempt. Plus in American football, a play that starts on your own 10 yard line, usually a long pass can turn into an instant touchdown, sometimes running plays too. Plus returning punts and kickoffs and then you also have interceptions and fumbles that turn into touchdowns. You never know when these are going to happen which adds to the excitement.
That said, there are bad American football games that are as boring as soccer, usually when 2 shitty teams play each other.
