Let's face facts. There's really only about 1-5 minutes tops in any given match of meaningful action that is worth cheering about. The rest of the 90+ minutes are all just waiting for something to happen, waiting for whistles, waiting for throw-in's, waiting for a player to quit holding his shin and crying, waiting waiting waiting.
However, when that worthwhile action does come, it's often simply golden, and makes the whole 2-3 hour affair bearable. I've watched every game so far, seen every single goal of the WC and every slow replay of every goal from every concievable angle. Some of them have been incredible.
Someone in another thread was scoffing at American football, going on about all the stopping and starting, having ten seconds of play and then thirty seconds of standing around. While watching all these WC soccer matches I find myself wondering "Is he kidding??"... because there's plenty of that in those games as well. Tons of bone-headed whistles, plenty of yapping and standing around in soccer too. The only single advantage I can see is... no commericals except during the halftime break.
Why do you think I can watch 3-4 games per day? DVR is key, and F-FWD is my friend. :D
