Besides, I DID thank those who gave me a serious reply. I do appreciate that. But this thread quickly degenerated into how ignorant Americans are for not "getting it" then comparing every other sport in the world to soccer.
I am an intelligent sports fan. I have also traveled the world and visited 23 countries (so far), and not just as a fat, dumb American tourist either. I have lived and worked in several countries in my lifetime. I am a NEW YORKER, which is very differant from being an AMERICAN only, and yet still I fail to see the appeal, even after all the explanations.
The World Cup was held here in America a few years back. Know who went to all the matches? Foriegners. LOL We Americans simply do not see the appeal and while it was well-explained in this thread (and I can see the appeal from another person's perspective) soccer just doesn't do it for 95% of Americans (or New Yorkers). Sorry.

Your replies are ignorant. To be honest. The world cup in USA had the highest attendance ever. But, to you those are not real Americans. The people watching on TV in America only watch because they are gambling. All the people who follow the MLS I assume are also foreigners as well?
The arrogance and closed minded nature of your replies is more than funny to me.
It's also funny how you say soccer is for people in poor countries, and blah blah blah America the best at everything ever, and ever. But, last time I checked Germany, England, Switzerland, France, and a variety of many other countries where soccer is king aren't close to third world as you suggest.
