That "paperwork" you're referring to, a lot of it is to do with verification of product claims, ingredients, licensing info etc. You know, checks and balances that are there to protect the citizens of Canada from false or substandard products. If it's "too much" for you that's a pretty big red flag for me.
Like I said, making the effort to get approval in Canada would be a solid bonus for how legitimate your company looks. Not having it because it's "too much paperwork" just looks bad.
But I'm sure someone in the US won't be bothered by any of that and will happily do business with you.
