As things turned out that early momentum never waned and when they combined that with his ability to give great speeches as well as the campaign's ability to engage younger voters it was like the stars just aligned for him and everything went right.

Yes, one part of the caucus strategy was to energize the youth with their free time as well. They focused really hard on campuses in those States. And with social media and IM etc, it spread like wildfire among the college students.
It really was an incredible strategy. Caught the Clinton campaign completely flat footed. Put them in such a whole delegate wise, that even huge states like California and NY couldn't close the distance.
