Free stuff means traffic for the guys giving it away - but it is not good for the guys trying to charge the punter in the old fashioned way.

There's one thing missing in the considerations made, the age of the guys in the "traffic". Since a cam site got chat, you check logs to see the age of most the guys. The guys who pay most are 30+ years old, but esp. 35-40+ years old really. These guys had their brain "wired" before of the tubes or myfreecams, and not all adapted to feeling idiot if paying a cam girl's service or just tipping girls (brains are more difficult to change at later age, like it is harder to learn new foreign languages).
Younger guys, except being unemployed or otherwise missing cash, learned the all free and troll way directly, hard-wired in brain, and will be difficult for them to pay, even they can and sort of wish, since it will look like silly.
It is like older europeans don't want to use credit cards esp. online, since they had no credit cards when young, while USA people don't mind (incuding put it in phishing pages or telling number to everyone who asks).
Sites giving stats on age of viewers, often estimate 30% of tube viewers to be under 18, and 60% under 30, that's lots of useless traffic, just because the age of the guys. Not just because it's free. Old guys used to pay, may still pay if they wish, whatever the free you give, simply because that's how their brain was trained.
