The big problem is that there is too much CO2 in the atmosphere. CO2 is a greenhouse gas which means it traps heat. Heat naturally rises and some of it dissipates into space. The CO2 in the atmosphere keeps more of the heat inside, raising the average temperature of the planet. It takes only a few degrees to change the world. This is why its such a big concern.
