That is true in some locations, but not here. I live in Montreal, Canada. 100% of our electricity comes from renewable energy, Hydro Electric.

Not true. It takes 4 hours to fully charge a Chevy Volt. When I am home for the night all I have to do is plug it in, and its fully charged a good 4 hours before I wake up in the morning.

Not true. I live about 10 kilometres from downtown. I can drive there and back at least 3 times on a single charge. But since I can charge my car here at home and plug it in an an EV station (for free), its not a worry for me.

If I do run low on batter, the gas engine powers a GENERATOR, which in turn powers the electric motor.

I looked at the Leaf, but decided I liked the Volt better. A good second choice was the Ford Focus Electric but they are special order only and it takes about 5 months to get one. I didn't feel like waiting.
