That is how it is usually generalized but it is a lot more complicated than that and it has become just a general and ridiculous smear to use against anyone who is slightly to the right of extreme left-wing.

The point being that if you think only "extreme right-wingers" can be authoritarian or totalitarian then you haven't been paying much attention.
