I think rights go out the window the moment you break into someone's home. These shooters are clearly psychopaths as instead of making it harder to break in or buying a alarm they instead waited to kill the intruder, however I'd find them not guilty if I was on the jury. If you beak into someone's house you put your life into their hands IMO.
I don't however think you should be able to shoot someone just for trespassing on your property. It should only be justified if they are entering your home, because at that point they have crossed a line and you have no ability to know what their intentions are.
