Both guys are way over the top on their different spectrums. But by and large, the viewers just don't like left wing elitist types.
They don't come across as true "liberals". They are mean spirited and don't seem to show any of the compassion that real liberal people have.
They just seem to be hell-bent on the govt. being bigger and having total control.
Which doesn't sit well with most people. Thus the ratings difference.

I would tend to agree. Ed Shultz puts too much, I'll call it "passion" into his reports. I PVR his show but when I get around to watching him I usually skip through alot of it.

Maybe, but its something I would love to see. Assuming they had a fact-checking moderator, Hannity would lose big time in a debate with Shultz or anyone else.

I watch MSNBC. Hannity's "success" is lying constantly, making huge mistakes, and never ever apologizing for them. Sean Hannity is shit.
