VK, I don't mean to put words in your mouth but it kinda seems like you'd welcome a war. That's a drag.

You remind me of the guys we had here who were in favor of the Iraq invasion - it was obviously both ethically and economically a terrible idea, but they thought their country was awesome and should be able to do whatever it wanted. So they'd spout off half-truths and distortions (and sometimes outright lies) that justified the invasion. I marched and demonstrated against that shit many times, ultimately it didn't help and many many people died. A couple years later it became apparent to everyone (not just those of us who knew all along) it was a mistake for all involved, even the country that militarily won, but the damage was done and the world was worse off for it.

A Russian invasion of Ukraine would be like that. I still hold out the belief that Putin is far far smarter than Bush and is just bluffing, but I see some of his speeches including one you've posted, where there's that glimmer in his eye that makes me think the dude's not thinking rationally like you saw with fucking Bush. Again, hopefully he's just playing everyone to keep Ukraine off balance enough to shove through federalization in the east but it's a dangerous game.
