People in the center are becoming jaded by American politics and generally do not trust either party right now. But since a choice has to be made, they are leaning towards the Republicans. Leaning toward Republicans? I really don't think so. I've yet to ever talk to anyone in person whom has been a life long Democrat that has switched to Republican. Most of your high population centers which is were the majority of votes come from are very liberal and I don't see these people turning or even slightly leaning toward the Republican side as most people see the Republican party as worse than the Democrats.

Just because there is a bunch of vocal republicans on the internet doesn't mean that's how the majority of the people think.
