the 500mm? Ok, sure, perhaps, I have not researched it for portraiture. but again, you'll have to be 100 ft away to get a full body shot. And I'd wager for portraiture you're going to have to deal with very flattened out features like noses and such.
or the 2.8 70-200mm? I'd argue no, it's not a great portrait lens. It's good. It's versatile. not great.
