I think it's only fair to note that media buying (purchasing traffic) is a practice that requires meticulous monitoring and a bit of math. You have to be smart about it or yes, you WILL lose money. You cannot just open up a [JuicyAds, Exo, TJ, etc.] account, load some money, sit back and expect to get tons of ROI. Optimizing purchased traffic is a full time job. That is why people hire media buyers whose sole purpose is to do this, all day long.
Why does it seem that so many people ignore this?
