There are plenty of American born people who "converted" to islam, Adam Yahiye Gadahn can be our example for now who's grandfather just happened to be on the Board of Directors of the Anti-Defamation League.
You can choose to believe or be forced to believe by your surroundings and/or brainwashing but you aren't born religious. Period.
