I agree, though NameSilo also isn't exactly a new registrar, they've been around a awhile operating under that same philosophy. Their downside, if you can call it that, is they do not support all the extra domains that registrars like GD and NameCheap support. The TLD's they support are just the most primary ones. But they certainly seem to run a pretty tight, efficient ship.
That said, I certainly would be agreeable to paying a fee for any extras I need. I didn't migrate to NameSilo for the free extras. I migrated them for the clean and refreshing User Experience. No endless upsells, fragmented management sections, clutter, etc. It's just a very positive experience.
