The one thing GD used to have going for it was pricing and service. You could overlook the endless upsells, the completely horrendous user interface, the hunting and searching for coupon codes, the nickel and diming for every little thing extra you needed (WHOIS for example, Domain Locks/Defender, etc).

But with GD's pricepoint increases -- even with their "discount club" fees -- it just makes very little sense to pay more to still put up with all of that nonsense when there are companies like NameSilo out there who offer better service, better user interface, zero upsells, and no extra fees -- all extras are included for a price LESS than GD even with coupon codes.

Suffice it to say, NameSilo's approach has been attractive enough that they've gained the 10 years+ business I've had with GoDaddy. It's how a registrar should be.

To the OP, try some sites like FatWallet who have a pretty active community. Also, some GD codes are hit and miss. I've been told if you try clearing your GD cookies and try entering the codes form different proxies, sometimes a code that didn't work for you from one location may indeed work from another location. I have no actual first-hand knowledge of that though. Good luck.
