I played 3 rounds of the beta, and as much as I WANTED to love it I just could not....
here's why it didn't work well for me:
As a single player Elder Scrolls game it's GREAT! decent graphics, great voice actors (John Cleese and "dumbledore" for example) and the overall story was great, JUST what one would expect from a TES title.
But Wait... Notice I said "Single Player" because myself (and MANY of the other Beta Testers shared a very common complaint) It did not really feel like a multi-player game, and in all 3 of my playing weekends I NEVER ran into anything I NEEDED or HAD TO HAVE other players to get through it. so for myself I was playing a pretty cool Single player game LOADED with ppl just getting in my damn way lol.
The loot system sucked (but they DID tweak it a bit)
The monster spawns were a bit too quick to respawn (lead to LOTS of camping and loot raiding of course)
The combat system just fucking BLEW!!!! (Another HUGE gripe from testers)
Again they "did" tweak it but to me it felt worse then before, to me I just clicked the ever loving fuck out of my mouse and waited for the baddie to fall dead (sometimes honestly getting BORED while I waited) I only hope they made more tweaks to the combat system cause it STILL needed it badly after the last beta weekend.
The PVP was awesome, I literally LOVED it BUT as sweet as it was, it just wasn't enough for me to pay $80 for a pre-order, and $15.00 a month for access... oh and one thing I can not confirm just yet, but paying for gold....
Fast travel costs gold to use, the farther away you need to go the more it costs, all of the loot I got from level 1 - level 25 was between 1 - 10 gold per chest (mostly 1-4 really) where fast travel prices were in the high hundreds and up, it makes sense to me that once they go live they will offer "Gold Packs" cause looting it and or earning it takes too damn long.
Last but not least, the vast number of testers I spoke with on the forums and in game test weekends pretty much agreed, this most likely will become a free to play game with a $XX.XX Price tag, how soon? no idea, good idea? YES!
(I'm sticking to Skyrim and Mods from Nexus myself)
