I very much dought it would come down to that either, but if Russia decided to take the whole of Ukrain there is not a thing the EU or the US could do about it and Russia knows this. Russia is laughing at the so called sanctions put in place by the US and EU and Russia could do far more harm to the UK and other EU countries if it wished to.

Russia certainly showed the US and the EU that they mean nothing and will do what ever they want if they wish to.

The crazy thing about it is the way they did it without causing a full out war with Ukrain. "Not that Ukrain would stand a chance anyhow"

Look at the mess we have created in Iraq, Afganistan and Libya and look how peacefull it was done in Crimea. Putin certainly got the upper hand on this situation.
