No that was a different story. The States have placed the nukes in Turkey, right near the USSR border. Khrushchev has demanded Kennedy to remove them and got a negative answer. So he delivered nuclear missiles to Cuba. After that the problem was solved: Soviets have removed the nukes from Cuba and the USA did the same to their warheads in Turkey. That's all: mission accomplished
As about the Ukraine, so it's a bit different story. The most closer analogy is Kosovo.
