Well, think about it. Even if you take the best computer you have to have a price point at which it would not be smart to buy it. Right? I mean would you pay 500% extra money for 3% better system? I doubt that.

This is exactly the point. It will vary on an individual basis.
There are simple, quantifiable objective factors (how much is my time worth and how much time can I save by not having to mess with rebooting, drivers, annoying system dialog boxes, malware, etc.) and there are individual subjective factors (how important are aesthetics to me, how important is external build quality to me,etc.) and they all matter as weighted factors when it comes to deciding whether Apple is a good fit for me or not.
There's also the placebo effect to consider ($2 energy drink vs $4 energy drink and the effects each one has on the quantifiable performance boost of an individual)
