While I do get a small amount of satisfaction when the US flexes it's military might, there are times when military action is called for and times when it is completely improper. Military action should be the last resort, long after diplomacy has failed.

You can try to compare US actions in the past to what's currently happening with Ukraine, but at the very least US has "remotely valid" reasons and usually UN support. With Russia invading Ukraine, there was no remotely valid reason, no diplomacy, and the only threat to Russian speaking citizens of Ukraine is the fact that Russia has invaded Ukraine.

Russia in fact does not have the right to protect "Russian speaking people" in any way, shape, or form. If this was the case Russia would have a reason to invade Poland or any of the former Soviet Block countries, and might also give Mexico the right to invade California, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas to protect "Spanish speaking people".
