I think yesterday the Economist came out with it's most expensive cities in the world list (Singapore toppled Tokyo for the distinction) and Panama City, Panama was in the bottom 10.

Panama City feels like a US suburb, plenty of malls, every American food franchise you can think of and the people are real friendly. They use the US dollar and English is prevalent, though some only speak Spanish.

Easy to get a Panamanian passport if you have a couple hundred thousand to put in escrow for 5 years (or something like that). Three hours from Miami, hot weather and beautiful beaches - a lot of beachfront properties are being bought by Americans.

Great internet. Government? Well, it's a democracy and it's not to the left like Ecuador, Venezuela and Nicaragua. Noriega was a long time ago.
