Oh yeah...we have to be "safe" by being searched and treated like criminals.
Somehow we didn't need that in the 1920's, 1930's (the precursor to WW2), 1940's (during a freakin' WORLD WAR with actual enemies, not goat herders), 1950's-1990 (the height of the "Cold War", the Korean War, the Vietnam War, countless planes hijacked, etc), or the 1990's.
But 12 goat herders with box cutters and look at us now.
I remember seeing G.W. Bush give a speech right before we invaded Afghanistan.
He said something about having a unique opportunity because of 9-11.
I thought (as did everyone else) that he meant to make a "change" in the muslim world.
Turns out he meant a unique opportunity (called "the patriot act") to have the federal govt. invade any privacy we had left.
