Are you talking about the USA during the war?
All countries control their economies when the life of the nation depends on it.
As the history you believe is written by believers in the dictatorship of the rich I don't expect you to be able to see the positive aspects of State control. The ability of nations to develop their economy in the face of hostile powers.
Have the Ukrainians been informed that their nations industries will be smashed, there will be mass unemployment and if they want work vast numbers will have to leave the country?
The working class in the west will be faced with even more pressure on their wages....
