He hung out with other brilliant, industrious, and powerful men of his time in Fort Myers, Florida, along the river in what is now Lee County, Florida and many other wilderness areas of the period.
A small town up the river carries his middle name as its name. It is said he used to camp and fish there with his guests.
An interesting man, if you go to Sanibel, Captiva, Marco Island or any where close to Fort Myers check out his Estate.
