The sound on the GoPro leaves something to be desired, so look into connecting an external mic also. These cams were made to be used under water and in situations with a lot of wind, so sound fidelity wasn't a priority. Even a $30 mic is a noticeable upgrade.

Good suggestion, I actually made a hand held thing out of pvc for my dslr, I'll take a pic and upload it later
As far as the sound, I edited the video last night using my Bose headphones and I have no complaint on the sound quality. I guess they made a big upgrade on the latest model. I could notice a few places the sound was bad, I think I had my fingers over the mic holes but that was easy to edit out.
