I hate to say this but a lot of stuff in our dear US is like that. So many international airports are paeans to architecture and achievement, then you get to fuckin JFK. I love seeing the looks on foreigners faces when we arrive and they get their first glimpse of the US, the world power, the light of nations, the torch or mankind, and it is a broken down shithole staffed by people who .... well let's just say that the word "qualified" has to be stretched like Shelley Lubben's anus to fit them in it.
I'm not complaining but it would have been nice to save a few trillion from our pointless wars of the last few decades and make some nice stuff.
