Sid- You missed the point of what I was saying ENTIRELY. And I have no fucking idea what you're talking about with "farmer uprising". But anyway, if kids who live on farms can be perfectly normal and unnaffected by seeing a cow killed, hung up by its back legs, skinned and butchered why is it that seeing LESS THAN THAT would have such a massive effect on other kids? It wouldnt. Its no differant than science class because of the context. You have a guy there with a microphone talking about the animal and what is happening with the autopsy and what they are learning from it the whole time, everyone is calm and professional. Its not like the beast is being tortured by some manic who is painting himself with its blood while screaming profanities. THAT would be confronting. But this is not, it is an extension of their science class. People have been seeing and doing this since the dawn of time, but suddenly its gonna turn Danish kids into lunatics?

Dyna Mo- I actually tend to agree. I dont think aquariums where marine animals are taught tricks and made to put on shows are ok. And I think the casinos that keep big cats are right out of line. But thats not what is being talked about here. This is a zoo led program to help try and bring some of the more endangered giraffe sub species back from the brink of extinction. This is good work they are doing. This animal died for the greater good of the species and they made sure its death served multiple positive functions. How anyone can see this as anything other than a good thing has got me fucked. It really does. Like, the Vatican has refused to change its internal policy on pedophilia amongst priests, there are kids in Africa being forced to be soldiers, here in Australia it has been uncovered that the Salvation Army (supposedly one of the most benign groups out there) has been systematically abusing children for decades, there is fucking INSANE shit going on in the world. And yet this, something which actually is a positive, is causing so much bullshit and furore. It boggles the mind, it really does.
