what do you not understand? He built a huge ark and had 2 of every animal on it, bugs too and the fish just swam behind it, some birds flew above it and some were in the ark as well. If you saw the movie 2012 you would know an ark that big could be built. He had plenty of time to make the ark.
When the flood was over he dropped the animals off at each stop, a few here and a few there. That is how they are so spread out.
