Lieberman was run out of the Democrat party like a dog. He didn't get "pissed off" about his election to the Senate. He got "primaried" by the Democrat Party.
The same exact thing that Democrats are screaming about the Tea Party doing to "liberal" Republicans.
And Lieberman PROVED he was the most popular candidate by going Independent and WINNING the election.

Call it what you will, but he was never voted out of the Democratic Party he choose to run as a independent-democrat no one stopped him from running as a Democrat. He instead claimed his party left him as if it had evolved into something else.. Meanwhile he was the guy being vetted to be McCain's running mate and spoke at the RNC putting his support behind McCain.
Do you really think the guy was going to keep his support after that? Again he alienated himself by his actions, hell his senate election in which he ran as a independent he was the "de-facto" republican and was actually endorsed by the Republicans. Even still with this he was still a Democrat because no one "kicked" him out he was just given the cold shoulder..
Also Democrats supported the Iraq war at the beginning when they went along with Bush's lies and mis information about WMDs. As it became clear Bush had bullshitted his way to war Democrats were no longer supporting the war. So don't act as if "most" Democrats were supporting the war at that point. That's BS and you know it. Democrats were running on ending the war not supporting it by that time,
