That is how "bat shit crazy" and "extreme" the Dems can be as well.

Pretty much in either part there is no room for dissent. Maybe that's a good thing?

Would you accept a very conservative Democrat? I don't think so.
And I don't think Republicans accept a very liberal Republican.

The country is divided right now between people who believe the govt. should be big and in control...and those that think the govt. should be smaller and less obtrusive.

And then when you throw in the social issues...it really messes up both sides.
For instance, I'm fiscally conservative (like a Republican)...but extremely socially liberal (far more than any Democrat).
Lieberman wasn't kicked out of the Democratic Party, he became alienated due to his support for the Iraq War and he lost the nomination by the Democrat senate seat to someone that was anti war. He was also supporting one of the guys behind the Swift Boat Veterans to be a diplomat. He burned his bridges but he wasn't censured or kicked out he just wasn't nominated by the Democratic Party. The talk of kicking him out was mostly media hoopla. Hell he was vetted by John McCain to be his running mate but McCain got scared because he would have lost support from many Republicans.

Lieberman committed party suicide by his actions and became a independent after he got pissed off from losing the senate nomination but he was never actually kicked out.

These guys in Arizona however actually voted to censure McCain. Even the party whip called them whacky..
