The thing is no one is impressed when you say BMW or Mercedes any more. These used to be cars that only doctors drove. Audi... Nice cars, and impressive (as much as the BMW or Mercedes), but no one seems to say "Oh, you have an AUUUUUDI".
Tell someone you have a Tesla and they will be like "oh, very cool".
